Krystal warmly welcomes former web hosting clients of Majestic Media.
As the UK’s largest independent web hosting company Krystal have put together this little primer to help you quickly familiarise yourself with our set up.
We’ve collected the information you’ll need going forward below.
Welcome to Krystal!
First and foremost, welcome to Krystal! We host over 250,000 websites on behalf of over 30,000 clients and have recently celebrated our 18th birthday, so you’re in experienced hands!
Our values and ethos are very similar to Majestic Media and we’re confident that you’ll love the service and support we provide. You can look forward to things like LiveChat support and enhanced email anti-spam filtering.
If you have any questions or concerns we’re here to help. Hosting with us brings an award-winning in-house UK support team including telephone support (Mon-Fri 09:00-20:00) and Live Chat & Tickets.
What’s already happened?
Majestic Media is no longer providing web hosting from October 2021 and has recommended us to take over your hosting. The first step is to create an account with us so you can access the Krystal Client Area.
Moving your current hosting from Majestic Media to our servers couldn’t be easier. We can take a direct copy of your existing cPanel account and copy it over to your new account with us. This will copy all of your websites, DNS settings and any email accounts that are on the cPanel.
The steps to follow are:
Order a suitable* hosting package from our list; here.
You will now be able to raise a support ticket with us, just log into your Krystal Client Area and raise a new support request. All we need is the domain name of the site to be moved, as well as your cPanel login details from your Majestic Media web hosting account.
We will then copy the site over and advise on the next steps to take.
In most cases, however, the Ruby package will be sufficient for your requirements. You can upgrade/downgrade at any time during your time with us.
Will there be any downtime?
There shouldn’t be any downtime at all. We will copy things over in the background and give you time to preview it to make sure everything is in place as you expect. When ready all you need to do is change the nameservers to point visitors from the old server to the new one, resulting in no interruption of service for visitors to your sites.
Moving domain registration
You may also want to transfer the domain registration to us, this is a separate process, please take a look at this guide.
Once the migration of your hosting service itself takes place you’ll benefit from the following:
- 100% SSD disks and LiteSpeed web server, makes websites lightning fast.
- Free 1,500 Gbps DDoS protection.
- Free SSL certificates via Let’s Encrypt (including Wildcard).
- SpamExperts: Unlimited Spam filtering.
- Green hosting: Krystal is a green hosting provider using 100% renewable energy.
- Free Weekly & Monthly backups on all packages.
- Unlimited bandwidth and much more. See full package specs.
- What about my domain? Do I need to transfer that at the same time?
You can start the domain transfer process at any time. But to avoid any delays in moving over to us, we’d recommend letting us complete the migration first, then we can advise on the transfer process. More information can be found here.
- How do I update my DNS? (If external)
You’ll need to do this with your current nameserver provider. Please contact us for a migration first and we’ll guide you through this.
- Will you do the migration for me?
Yes! We are more than happy to migrate you over to our platform, you’ll just need to see the section above regarding raising a migration and we’ll get you moved over.
- How long will the migration take?
Typically, things shouldn’t take much longer than an hour from start to finish but your site won’t be down during the migration so please don’t be concerned.
- Will you help me with site issues moving forward?
Our award-winning support team will be happy to help you with platform issues but you’ll need to consult a developer if the issue is related to the code.
- Does your service use cPanel?
