Gwalia United v Oxford United – FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division 2025-2026

We visited the USW Sports Park in Pontypridd on Sunday, 17 August 2025, to photograph the opening FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division fixture of the season between Gwalia United and Oxford United.

Gwalia United kicked off their Women’s National League season with a hard-fought 1-0 loss to Oxford United at the University of South Wales Sports Park.

A first-half strike from Holly Turner proved to be the difference, despite Gwalia creating a number of promising chances – particularly after the break.

James Thomas’s side battled well and showed glimpses of promise across the pitch, but just couldn’t find the finishing touch to take something from their opening fixture.
