AFC Glais v Clydach – Macron West Wales Premier League 2023/2024

We visited the Recreation Ground in Pontardawe on Saturday, 27 January 2024 to photograph the Macron West Wales Premier League game between AFC Glais and Clydach.

Unlike our visit to the recreation ground in Pontardawe last weekend, the sun was thankfully shining this afternoon as Glais welcomed local rivals Clydach for an eagerly anticipated local derby.

A decent crowd watched the visitors dominate possession for long periods of the opening half, but it was the hosts who went into the interval with a two goal lead, thanks to Keelan Robb-Gregory and Ross Attwell.

Clydach pushed hard to get back into the game in the second half, and reduced the deficit through Arwel Rees. However, Glais immediately restored their two goal cushion thanks to a thunderous long range strike from Ross Attwell.

To their credit the visitors didn’t give up and pulled another goal back with some 20 minutes to go, as Samuel Ash found the net.

The home side weren’t to be denied however, as Lewis Pritchard scored in the dying minutes to secure the local bragging rights and a vital three points for AFC Glais, as they ran out 4-2 winners.
