We visited the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on Sunday, 12 April 2026, to photograph the Welsh Rugby Union Road to the Principality Women’s Cup Final between Llandaff North RFC Women and Bonymaen RFC Ladies.
Llandaff North RFC Women were crowned WRU Women’s Cup champions with a well-deserved 29-14 victory over Bonymaen RFC Ladies in a entertaining final played under the closed roof at the home of Welsh rugby.
In an atmospheric setting befitting the showpiece occasion, the two sides served up a physical and fiercely contested encounter. It was Llandaff North who drew first blood through Sophie Peters, whose try set the tone for what was to follow – and from that moment, they never looked back.
Building on that early platform, Llandaff North grew into the game with some exciting and incisive back play proving the difference between two well-matched teams, eventually running out convincing 29-14 winners.
Despite the margin of victory, Bonymaen deserve enormous credit for their never-say-die spirit. The Swansea based side refused to wilt under pressure and continued to fight until the final whistle, running in 14 points of their own to underline exactly why they earned their place in the final.
However, on the day it was Llandaff North who showed the greater cutting edge, on a memorable afternoon for the Cardiff based club.
