Swansea City Ladies v Abergavenny Women Welsh Premier Women’s League 2020-2021

With the Swansea City Ladies only needing a point from their game against Abergavenny Women on Sunday, 30 May 2021, to clinch the League title for a 2nd successive season, we ventured over to the Llandarcy Academy of Sport to witness the drama unfold.

On a warm sunny day, Abergavenny certainly made life difficult for the Swans with a resolute defensive display, frustrating the champions elect all afternoon. However, despite Abergavenny goalkeeper Zara Mujica Pernalete saving a second half penalty, the Swans Ladies clinched the title – adding to the League Cup trophy they’d won earlier in the week – to finish the season with a memorable League and Cup double.
