We made our very first visit to St James Park in Exeter on Sunday, 26 April 2026, to photograph the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division fixture between Exeter City and Gwalia United.
Young striker Georgia Vaccaro scored in the 87th minute to seal a 2-1 victory for Exeter City Women against Gwalia United.
Sarah Stacey had poked the home side in front after just nine minutes. But a battling Gwalia side, needing a result to preserve their league status, drew level midway through the first half through a neat lob from Tia Asker.
Both sides spurned decent chances in the second half, but a resilient Gwalia defence was finally breached with just minutes remaining, much to the delight of the majority of the 1,500 plus crowd.
It was a cruel blow for the visitors, as the narrow defeat meant that despite having the exact same points tally and goal difference as Wimbledon, the Welsh side were relegated having scored just 2 goals less than the Dons over the 20 game season.
