We visited the Cardiff City stadium in Cardiff on Tuesday, 2 June 2026, to photograph the international friendly match between Wales and Ghana.

Lewis Koumas scored deep into stoppage time to earn Wales a 1–1 draw against Ghana in an international friendly that also marked the Football Association of Wales’ 150th anniversary.
Wales were the better side for much of the contest and came close to taking the lead in the first half, with Daniel James striking both the post and crossbar in quick succession.
After a quiet opening hour at the Cardiff City Stadium, Ghana broke the deadlock when substitute Caleb Yirenkyi reacted quickest to score from a rebound, giving new head coach Carlos Queiroz hope of a winning start.
However, Wales’ persistence paid off in the third minute of added time. Neco Williams delivered an inviting cross from the right and Lewis Koumas stooped to head home his first senior international goal, ensuring the hosts ended the evening with a deserved share of the spoils.
