We visited the Cardiff City stadium in Cardiff on Tuesday, 19 November, to photograph the UEFA Nations League 2024/25 League B Group B4 match between Wales and Iceland.
Wales recovered from a shaky start to run out convincing 4-1 winners over Iceland in Cardiff, whilst sealing promotion back to UEFA Nations League A, with the help of Montenegro who beat Türkiye.
Iceland took an early lead in the eighth minute through Andri Gudjohnsen. However, once Bellamy’s side found their rhythm, they never looked back.
Liam Cullen scored his first goal for Wales after Neco Williams set up Brennan Johnson to deliver a pinpoint cross into the box. Cullen got ahead of his marker and headed past Hakon Rafn Valdimarsson to level the score.
Cullen struck again before halftime. The ball fell kindly for him after Dan James’ shot was blocked by Valdimarsson, and he made no mistake in finishing, completing a stunning first-half turnaround.
In the second half, Iceland pushed forward, but Wales capitalized on the extra space to score twice more and secure a convincing win.
Cullen played a key role in the third goal, threading a perfectly weighted pass to Johnson. Under pressure from a defender, Johnson showed great composure and technique to slot the ball inside the far post.
Harry Wilson wrapped up the scoring with a stunning long-range strike. After Johnson was fouled in midfield, Wilson picked up the loose ball and unleashed a rocket into the net.
